Nothing beats the smell of a real tree and the memories made while finding that special tree with the family! Maybe you’re looking for that 12-14ft Griswold statement Christmas tree!

We’ve got you covered.

Load the family up and come on out to our winter wonderland to pick out the perfect Christmas tree for this holiday season. We have various sizes and prices on Fraser Firs, Balsam Firs, Cannon Firs, Tannenbaum Firs, White Pines and Scotch Pines. And don’t forget to stay a little longer to enjoy our themed photo ops, bonfire, FREE hot Cider, FREE petting zoo, the Holiday Store and photos with Santa.

We are a small business with family business service!

We will shake the needles out of your tree, give it a fresh cut, trim boughs and tie it to your vehicle all while you enjoy some hot cider in our heated Holiday Store.

Types of Christmas Trees

If you have never bought a real Christmas tree before sometimes the variety of options may be a little overwhelming. Here is a list of our most popular Christmas Trees that we carry at the Country Apple Orchard Tree Lot.

Each one has a little different attribute from small and fluffy to large and robust. Don’t forget to measure your ceiling height and leave a little room for the tree topper and a couple inches for the base.

Scotch Pine

The Scotch Pines are so perfectly conically shaped they almost seem not real. Medium length needles and with excellent retention. These are another great value on the Christmas Tree Lot as they are very affordable.

Balsam Fir

These trees are hugely popular for having that full Christmas tree form. Balsams will have short dark green needles that are soft to the touch and strong branches that can support many ornaments.

Their needle retention is good to excellent, and they have a strong pine scent that fills the house with the smell of Christmas.

Frasier Fir

The Frasier Fir is one of the most sought-after Christmas trees not only on our tree lot but around the world. This popularity has created a shortage in the supply chain which has led to premium pricing when you can find them. Frasier Firs have a more open style with sturdy branches for lots of ornaments.

Needles are dark blue/green with a silvery underside and have the best needle retention and great scent. All these qualities make the Frasier Fir the most sought-after Christmas tree on the lot.

Cannan Fir

A relative newcomer to the Christmas Tree lot because of the scarcity of Frasier Firs, Cannan Firs seem have the best of both Fraisiers and Balsams.

They have strong robust branches like a Frasier and dark green needles and perfect conical shape like a Balsam.

With a milder scent and good needle retention, the Cannan Firs move fast on The Country Apple Orchard Christmas Tree Lot.

White Pine

The White Pine has long soft dark green needles that are in bunches on thinner branches. Very full and thick with excellent needle retention. Because of their long soft needles these trees or great for the Christmas ornament minimalist as their branches will not support heavy ornaments.

Definitely a classic looking tree that will fill the house with Christmas nostalgia. White Pines are one of the most economical trees on the Christmas tree lot.

Tips For Taking Care of Your Real Christmas Tree

For many people it just isn’t the holidays without that fresh smell of a real Christmas tree adorned with ornaments in their house. The only drawback for many of the potential mess of falling pine needles. Here are a few tips for taking care of your Country Apple Orchard Christmas tree and keeping the mess to a minimum.

If you don’t cut down a tree yourself and you’re looking at trees at a Sioux Falls Christmas tree lot, check for freshness by doing a pull test.

Gently pull on a shoot with your thumb and fingers; if the tree is fresh, you should not have any needles come off in your hand. At the Country Apple Orchard Christmas tree lot, we get our trees from small family farms to help ensure freshness and speedy shipment from the field to our lot.

Once you pick out the perfect tree, we put a fresh cut on it if you are heading straight home to put it in the stand with water. After trees are cut at the farm, the cut end will begin to dry out and resin can clog the water conducting tissues in the trunk. These factors will limit water uptake, so re-cutting the end aids in allowing the tree to take up water and keeping the tree hydrated. A hydrated tree will hold its needles longer than a dried-out tree. If you can’t get your tree up within the hour its best to store in a cool dark place until it’s ready to put it up. Don’t forget to give it a fresh cut.

A fresh tree can suck up a lot more water than you think. Monitor daily for the first few days to ensure you don’t run dry. A well hydrated tree will hold its needles longer, reducing cleanup.

Enjoy your Sioux Falls Christmas Tree!
